about

What's that under the tree?!

Worse than well-meaning grandma's socks when you were a child only capable of enjoying brightly-coloured plastic, it's a bloody general election.

As of now (20/11/19) there's still six days left to register to vote (five for a postal vote) www.gov.uk/register-to-vote

So get signed up because apathy's not cool anymore, it's not 2005.

All profits from the song between now and December 24th will be donated to The Trussell Trust, a charity dedicated to ending hunger and poverty in the UK. They run food banks all over the UK, including three in Cumbria. If the election goes a certain way, it's likely we as a nation will need their services more than ever, so we want to do what we can to help.

Peace and love to all (except those that don't vote)

lyrics

Jingle, jingle, jingle, is that bells I hear?
Christmas is near
Time for merriment,
time for some cheer
Time for flying reindeer
Giving gifts, Best wishes
Roast turkey delicious! Is this
Board game getting vicious?
Roll the die, till you cry
And the Loser does the dishes

Bruce Willis in an air vent
stressing so his hair’s went
Sweating so his vest’s spent
Hans Gruber’s hell-bent
Christmas cards sent
chocolate’s hardly made a dent
I am in my element
Load up on booze, snooze,
what’s that under the tree?

Christmas
Christmas
Christmas
Election

That’s not the gift I wanted
Never been so disappointed
Overweight blonde baby, fisher-price trump, right-leaning crazy
Don’t let boris be appointed
Not one that should be anointed
Not unless you wanna be exploited
This debate is pointless

Do you really want a leader
One who will beleaguer,
Need a deal that’s sweeter
Tories have never been weaker
Bloody creature
Puttin’ lies on the side of a bus
Absolutely sure he’s not one of us
He can’t even make a cup of tea

Christmas
Christmas
Christmas
Election

Not all is lost if you weigh up the cost,
There’s some time left to register,
Choose your competitor.
Blue versus red, versus green, versus yellow
So choose a bedfellow
Or wind up in a ghetto.
If we leave the EU neighbours bid us adieu
Crippling tax rises placed on
baguettes and fondue
The power is in your hands
This christmas time ‘cause it’s
Left wing or right wing it’s time to decide
Blue pill or red pill, one is cyanide
You can’t sit this one out
‘cause it’s all on the line

Up to 120,000 deaths since 2010 can be linked to unwavering Tory austerity,
a tight fist around the neck of essential services,
Kafkaesque systems designed to confound and exclude those most in need,
while £225,000 of taxpayer cash is spent to mislead in papers, ads run saying “things aren’t that bad”, presenting a veneer of caring, deterring dissatisfaction and complaints,
tainting institutions that once made this nation great,
blame the EU, blame the poor, blame me, blame you, blame anyone without the chance to speak
universal credit; for the unwaveringly credulous; it’s better because it is
it’s better because it is, it’s better because it is,
and all that really matters is what you say, not what you do
all that really matters is what you say, all that really matters is what you say.
